This article about a priest in London telling poor people to steal definitely caught my attention. Deciding our morals by the circumstances we will encounter is a dangerous game to play. Can the poor steal? If they can, people in the Bible missed out. Mary the Mother of Jesus, poor. The widow who GAVE the two coins, poor. Jesus himself, poor. They never stole.
We have a society that seeks comfort instead of righteousness. It is more financially feasible to live together than to get married. It looks better on the bottom line to doctor the books instead of being completely honest.
I appreciate this priest in caring for the poor. We should be on the rooftops preaching of the injustices done to the poor, the widows, the orphans, the aliens. At the same time we should be aiding the poor in every way we can and teaching them to cry out to God for justice and not seek it themselves.
Heavenly Father, forgive us when we have comprised your truth for our comfort. We cry out for justice for the poor. Help us to reach out to those that need comfort. God we trust in you and lean not into our own understandings. In Jesus name, let it be so.
I love you guys.

I really feel passion for the poor myself. I hope that is what that priest was feeling when he told them to steal. Maybe he felt completely helpless to help the poor, so stealing was his only solution. I do not believe we are helpless. Our message of the gospel is our answer. God watches the poor and will fight for them.
God teach us to us our passion rightly.
