Living Hope's Prayer of The Week-True Religion

Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

-God does the work of helping us to love him.  If you don't love enough just ask and He will graft that love into your heart that you need.

-I want true religion.  Religion has gotten a bad rap in the church lately.  Everyone says I want a relationship not religion.  Well I to want a relationship with Jesus and a portion of the way that happens is through true religion.  Jesus was religious.  He went to synagogue, prayed the Psalms, memorized Torah, gave to the needy, etc.  Jesus was religious but he was not a legalist.  If you pray, attend church, worship, face it, you are religious.  Now the question is, do we have a true religion?  This prayer helps us answer that.

-God shows us your glory.  When Moses asked to see God's glory one of the four things God mentioned was his goodness.  So, God's glory and goodness are tied together.  Ask God to show you His glory.  Then he will help you to become mature by His goodness.

-God bring forth in us the desired results, good works, of being a Christ follower.
