Deep Wound

"Christianity is a religion for men who are aware that there is a deep wound, a fissure of sin that strikes down to the very heart of man's being. They have tasted the sickness that is present in the inmost heart of man estranged from his God by guilt, suspicion and covert hatred. If that sickness is an illusion, then there is no need for the Cross, the sacraments and the Church." Thomas Merton

-I have felt this wound.

-I do not deny it.

-I see it daily on the news of the world.

-I can see it in my own soul.

-I believe it is real and the need for the cross, the sacraments, and the church are very much needed in this world and in our life.
